Six Flags Over GeorgiaApril 10, 2008 Dear National Carousel Association Member, May 30, 2008 marks a very special day in Carousel history: the 100th anniversary of the Riverview Carousel. Since 1972, the Riverview Carousel has operated at Six Flags Over Georgia, just outside Atlanta, after being relocated from Riverview Amusement Park in Chicago. The carousel debuted at the Chicago park in 1908 on Memorial Day weekend, providing guests with a ride on beautiful, hand-crafted horses and .love chariots.. Since being relocated to Six Flags Over Georgia, the Riverview Carousel has delighted millions of guests with its rich history. For this significant occasion, Six Flags Over Georgia wants to celebrate. We are inviting members of the National Carousel Association, as well as Atlanta-area residents, to submit writings with your experiences and memories with the Riverview Carousel, whether they are from its current location or its former in Chicago. The top fifty (50) stories will receive a special VIP invitation for two to join us for the 100th anniversary celebration at Six Flags Over Georgia on May 30, 2008. Winners are welcome to stay the rest of the day to enjoy everything Six Flags Over Georgia has to offer.
