NCAID0175 New Carving Standing Horse

The NCA Carousel Identification Project on this page was completed on 09/03/2010

The Request:

We are interested in knowing a bit about this horse (we believe it to be a replica since the tail is made of wood and removeable). Unfotrunately we do not know much about it. From Rump to chest is 40". Height from top to floor is 58". It was purchased either in upstate NY or in Pennsylvania approximately 15 years ago.

It is made of wood, it's very heavy, sturdy and would assume it is solid. I have enclosed pictures to help identify it. Included is a picture of the marking we can see "CWB019731W" it is located in the neck area, where the head connects to the horse (also included in the pictures).

The NCA Conclusion:

Your horse is new carving made in the last 20 to 25 years. Many of these carvings originated from Asia and Spain. The removable tail and solid construction are typical of imported carvings. These carvings were imported for the domestic decorative market. Enjoy your carving.
