The Request:
Hello, please find some pictures attached of a horse I have. I was told it was a Spillman horse from a carousel in the Los Angeles area circa 1920-1930. Unfortunately, that is all I have. Please let me know if I can help anymore. Any information that you and your membership can provide as to the history/identity of this beautiful horse would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your assistance.
The NCA Conclusion:
Your horse is an Allan Herschell jumper circa 1920 - 1930. The horse was probably from a portable carousel. Without additional information it would difficult to determine which carousel your horse is from.
From the photos you sent your horse appears to be original and intact.
There are several NCA Photo Shows of Allan Herschell carousels with horses similar to yours shown with the NCA Census. Here is a link to the C. Fred Johnson Recreation Park carousel in Johnson City, NY.
