The horses were repainted in a sign shop in winter of 1951. Bill of sale is October 31, 1951, signed by James E. Strates. About that time, Endy brothers had what may have been a Strates second unit. Had some financial difficulties according to "A Pictorial History of the American Carnival," by McKennon. Strates helped local fair organizer J.S. "Doc" Dorton find a carousel for Shelby.
