This steam engine was included with the carousel when it was purchased in 1929. The engine had been sold, but was located on the internet and re-purchased in 2004.
Though the boiler is not operational, the mechanism was put into operation during the 2005 fair by driving it with compressed air. Work is ongoing to restore the engine, though it probably won't be used to power the carousel because of modern safety standards.
