Semaphore Beach Carousel
Robert Bartlett Jumpers
© Patricia Mullins
Date of picture: September 20, 2003
Robert Bartlett and his family company hand-carved the wooden horses c 1927. The trappings were made from plywood, steam bent onto the horses and nailed into place by Robert. Metal "jewels" and glass eyes are the originals. The horse design was based on the 1914 German Heyn horses still operating on their original carousel in Canberra, Australia.
