The Chesapeake Carousel
Dentzel Deer - 2nd Row Jumper
© Gary Nance
Date of picture: March, 2005
An inside view of the only deer on the Watkins carousel. This figure was originally carved for use as a prancer with the rear legs mounted to the platform. It is most likely from a stationary platform carousel.
This carousel deer was made with real deer antlers, which was a common practice in carousel deer construction.
