Dr. Floyd L. Moreland Carousel at Casino Pier
Wide Angle View

National Carousel Association Logo © Floyd L. Moreland
Date of picture: 2000
This wide-angle shot has had the background noise of the arcade building in which the carousel sits removed so that the machine's features can be clearly seen. Over 2,000 lightbulbs (about five times the number that originally were on the carousel) make the machine sparkle as it turns.

The carousel is the original ride on Casino Pier and is considered its heart and soul. (See Jim Futrell, "Amusement Parks of New Jersey", Stackpole Books, 2004 for a history of the pier and of other New Jersey parks).
